Recruiting for a REMOTE direct hire/fulltime Senior Embedded Software Engineer for our client in Gaithersburg, MD.

Job Description

Recruiting for a full-time Senior Embedded Software Engineer. We are looking for embedded engineer to lead embedded computing selection and development for autonomous systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, from top level system-design through software and down to hardware level, to define and implement the computer systems required to meet or exceed internal and external performance metrics. Strong analytical skills, good communication, and above all a passion for autonomous robotics are a must. 


Job Roles:

  • Recommend, design, and test next-generation computer systems to meet project requirements.
  • Work closely with system and hardware engineers to ensure implementations meet or exceed requirements.
  • Design and develop kernel-mode drivers for interfacing with hardware components.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to drivers and hardware interfaces.
  • Validate the hardware system meets project expectations.

 Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, robotics, or related field, or with equivalent experience designing high-performance computing systems or Linux kernel driver development for hardware interfacing.
  • 2+ years of similar academic and/or professional working experience
  • C/C++ with a focus on kernel-level module debugging and development.
  • Strong Linux/Embedded Linux experience
  • Knowledge of low-level Linux operating system internals.
  • Experience reading schematics and basic electronics, as well as understand hardware documentation for the purposes of writing drivers.
  • Experience with system design and hardware/software testing environments
  • Experience in hardware and software product development cycle
  • Knowledge of communications protocols such as CAN, USB, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, UART, RS232, and RS485, and experience writing drivers to interface over them.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience interfacing with Computer Vision cameras, video streaming, and GPU driven development.
  • Experience designing hardware systems for Machine Learning or Computer Vision 
  • Robotic or aerospace systems experience
  • Experience with Nvidia architectures and hardware (e.g. Nvidia Jetson)
