We're looking for a technical lead who has consistently demonstrated the ability to develop high level technical designs, produce great code and can work across various disciplines to achieve product goals.


Salary around $130k.

Job Description

Population Health Management involves the aggregation and analysis of patient data from multiple sources. We are looking for an experienced full stack developer who can provide technical leadership to our Population Health application development teams. Frontend is currently being rewritten in Vue from AngularJS. This includes refining UI/UX to be more modern, designing code to follow a more maintainable atomic design, and providing leadership to other developers as they join in on the transition to Vue.


As a full stack developer, you will create and maintain a larger number of internal middleware APIs to support the application. This middleware is written mainly in Java and SQL, following RESTful principles. Developers are also expected to be able to work on the backend, spanning multiple databases and flavors of SQL. All of this is built inside the Amazon Web Services ecosystem.

The successful candidate will have experience working on and supporting modern SaaS/Cloud applications and have a deep understanding of all layers of the web application. Strong technical leadership skills and the ability work across teams to make sure coding best practices are followed. Demonstrated ability to work on large, enterprise level solutions with multiple languages, projects, and systems: being able to learn on the job is a must.


You'll be joining a team of engineers that work collectively on building a platform service that allows our medical providers and practices the ability to increase the efficiency of patient engagement. We are building our next generation solutions based on modern microservices platform independent technology, along with robust data lake to streamline integration and cutting-edge web applications.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction on software development projects.
  • Teach team members software development best practices and processes.
  • Perform Code Reviews and Design Reviews.
  • Assist team members plan and execute tasks and provide implementation feedback.
  • Support Quality software development by identifying areas for improvement.
  • Write automated tests including unit test and integration tests where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot issues in collaboration with other software engineers to resolve product defects.
  • Collaborate with team members on architectural design of new software applications.
  • Direct research on emerging application development products, languages, and standards.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and product owners in requirement definitions and planning.
  • Develop software applications according to specifications.
  • Determine most effective engineering solution to meet business requirements.
  • Effectively communicate technical information to business stakeholders.
  • Influence decisions regarding new technical concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • This role may have access to sensitive data to include PII and ePHI.


Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Computer Science or related field


Experience Required:

  • 5 plus years of experience as a software engineer


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Frontend experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, ideally Vue
  • Ability to work with legacy UI code, in this case AngularJS (version 1.x)
  • Ability to implement UX requirements with HTML/CSS
  • Experience writing unit tests and other automated testing
  • Experience with databases and SQL development
  • Fluent in programming languages including Java, JavaScript
  • Experience with application development in the cloud, specifically AWS
  • Experience in application performance analysis and tuning
  • Experience with Redshift or data processing/analytics
  • Familiarity with DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases
  • Experience in application performance analysis and tuning
  • Ability to setup and configure tools like grunt and webpack to build web applications
  • Experience with migrating applications between JavaScript frameworks
  • Past work with a CI/CD development process using feature flags
  • Knowledge of developing and deploying applications using AWS services
  • Experience working in an Agile environment on a Scrum development team
