Mechanical Engineering Department Manager - Facilities

Full Time Salaried, no OT
Salary Range:$110,000.00 To 150,000.00 Annually
 

A background in commercial, industrial HVAC/MEP engineering is required.

 

Opportunity:

The Department Manager will help improve the communities in which we all live, work, and play by managing the mechanical engineering staff and projects within our Facilities Engineering core business for our Rochester, and Albany, NY offices, as well as our Harrisburg, PA office.  Handle a variety of engineering duties including project management and design, business development and other supplementary tasks to support the growth of the Facilities Engineering core business.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of multiple projects to meet both time and cost objectives.
  • Leverages their expertise to manage complex projects and solve technical challenges.
  • Promotes the growth and development of client relationships.
  • Ensures key stakeholders are brief and engaged on progress and issues
  • Works to secure repeat or new business with clients.
  • Lead, mentor and develop mechanical engineering staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university 
  • Professional Engineering licensure in New York State or ability to obtain a license in New York within three (3) months
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering and project management
  • Familiar with and proficient at understanding and navigating the various building codes and industry standards associated with MEP design
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC system design including load calculations, hydronic and steam systems, industrial and laboratory ventilation, building automation and control systems and specs
  • Plumbing systems, compressed air, specialty gasses, RO/DI water and laboratory piping systems
  • NFPA-13 Sprinkler System Design as well as standpipes, fire pumps and other common fire protection systems serving facilities
  • Familiarity with commercial, institutional, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing facilities for private, government, municipal, industrial and institutional clients
  • Experience with leading a team and managing workload
  • Experience with building and maintaining client relationships; as well as experience with business development activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to travel to Client sites and other Company offices
